About

Anja Lauvdal is a Norwegian musician and composer known for her introspective blend of piano, synthesizers, and electronic textures. With a background in jazz and experimental groups like Moskus and Skadedyr, her solo work—including From a Story Now Lost (2022) and Farewell to Faraway Friends (2023)—dives into themes of solitude and emotional depth.

Her music evokes a dreamlike melancholy, inviting listeners into a reflective and often lonely soundscape.I designed a music poster, vinyl sleeve, and artist booklet that capture the emotional weight of Lauvdal’s work. Rooted in the tone of her album, the visuals explore abstract mark-making as a way to express the mood of a rainy day—soft, distant, and quietly consuming. The process centered around experimentation, eventually revealing a pattern that resembled a raincloud. This became a central motif: a symbol of loss and isolation that echoes the album’s atmosphere. By layering individual marks into a cohesive whole, the final design offers a visual interpretation of a friendship lost, aligning with the emotional undercurrents of Lauvdal’s music while creating a tactile and immersive experience for the viewer.
